Wow! Where have I been?

I can't believe it's been so long since I've had a burning desire to blog!  Kudos to the Alward Provincial Government for attempting to retroactively repeal the slovenly legislated MLA pension increases put forth by the previous government. Woo Hoo!  I support this decision wholeheartedly.  MLA pensions to be reduced!

MLA expelled for rude gesture

LOL at this comment from fogdog on the CBC.ca article "N.B. MLA expelled for rude gesture" (http://tinyurl.com/yejwp4q)

Quote: "He gave a member of the house the finger and everyone gets upset.

They've all been giving us the finger [shaft] for many years.

A member calls another M L A a liar and they eject him from the h...ouse.

Yet it is common practice for them to lie to us.

Maybe somebody should check to see how many pc's , cameras and generators our M L A s have bought,as in NS." Unquote.

The Neanderthal Institute of Canada

The Neanderthal Institute of Canada, allegedly a conglomerate of neo-conservative organizations whose goal it is to increase the wealth of the rich and transfer the tax burden to the labour force, is described in this video. Does it really exist? I don't know yet but it seems to fit into our puzzle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8twzxann5go

Canadian Council of Chief Executives

The Canadian Council of Chief Executives, of which David Ganong is a member, is "almost certainly the most continentalist corporate organization in modern Canadian history. It was the private sector leader in both the development and aggressive promotion of FTA, NAFTA, and now the SPP" - from the Google video: "WHO killed CANADA", available at: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=8632069635967998175#

Lepreau refurbishment cost to date: $2.28B

.
I just found this article from January, 2009.  It states: "That delay will cost NB Power an estimated $70 million to $90 million after the main contractor, Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., pays penalties.  Each extra month of delay beyond that will cost NB Power roughly $20 million."
http://telegraphjournal.canadaeast.com/search/article/546595

The delay mentioned above refers to a 3-month delay past the scheduled completion date of September, 2009.  The project began in April, 2008 and was supposed to take 18 months to complete.

My understanding is the cost for replacement power is roughly $1M per day.  But after the deadline of September, 2009, AECL pays penalties which reduce our cost for replacement power to about $20 M per month.

Let's do the math...

Bronwen Fyou Lecture

In the early days of the facebook group No to Sale of NB Power, a fourth-year UNB business student Bronwen Fyou was one of the administrators of the group.  She appeared in a Charles Leblanc YouTube video taken on the front lawn of the NB Legislature and shortly thereafter her name disappeared from the administrator list and the general membership list.  But, she has obviously not given up in the fight.  In these two short but compelling videos Bronwen lays out the facts on the financial situation of NB Power.  I watched these last night and could not sleep past 5:00 am this morning.

Bronwen Fyou A FACTUAL (non-emotional) look at the proposed sale of NB Power.

The Joker speaks again!

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman Miss Lewinski." -Bill CLinton
Translation: I put a cigar in her vagina and I let her fellate me.

"Iraq has stockpiled biological and chemical weapons, and is rebuilding the facilities used to make more of those weapons." - George Bush
Translation:  On Sept. 18, 2002, CIA director George Tenet briefed me in the Oval Office on top-secret intelligence that Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, but I  dismissed as worthless this information, because I wanted to believe other sources.

We are not selling NB Power. - Shawn Graham
Translation:  We're selling Genco which is only the heart of NB Power Group, Nuclearco, the company that runs that pesky Point Lepreau and maybe even Holdco which is mearly the brains of the outfit.  I'm not sure about Holdco yet though.  I have to wait and see what David Gagnon tells me.

New and Improved? Really! Not!

The summary of the new agreement appears to contain all of the same points of the MOU. - http://www.lowerratesnb.ca/downloads/Summary-of-Agreement-on-Energy.pdf
 - How can they even think the people of New Brunswick will believe this new and improved "great deal" is any better than the original?  Great news!  Now we have a transmission system to maintain but we will not own the plants to feed it.  It's even worse than the original folks.  They should have added:  "WAIT!, if you buy now, we'll also include a second royal shafting!  Make some noise people!
